LusNIC participated in the “2nd Smart Nations Conference: Artificial Intelligence with Purpose – Empowering Societies, Driving Economies”, an initiative of MUDA – Movement for Active Digital Use, which took place on November 14th at the VdA Vieira de Almeida Auditorium in Lisbon.
LusNIC President Marta Moreira Dias was part of the panel “Building the Digital Future: Global Visions for AI with Purpose”, along with Delfina Soares (Director, United Nations University – E-Government Unit), Marcos Pueyrredon (President, Ecommerce Institute and Co-Founder of VTEX) and Ariete Pereira Martins (Business Development Coordinator – CPLP Countries, AngolaCables), moderated by Joana Petiz (Editorial Director, SAPO).
The debate focused on the role of artificial intelligence in building more inclusive, secure digital ecosystems that are geared towards the real needs of societies. In her speech, Marta Moreira Dias highlighted that technology only creates impact when it serves people, emphasizing that purposeful AI requires context, language, culture, access, and trust.
He also emphasized that innovation depends on a secure digital infrastructure and skilled teams, essential elements to ensure that digital transformation translates into concrete benefits for citizens, businesses, and institutions. In this context, he highlighted LusNIC's contribution to strengthening the technical autonomy of Portuguese-speaking ccTLDs, to cooperation between countries within the community, and to consolidating a solid digital identity in the Portuguese-speaking world.
