LusNIC was present at the 1st edition of the São Tomé and Príncipe Internet Governance Forum (FGI STP), promoted by the General Regulatory Authority (AGER) between August 28th and 30th, at Casa Cacau, in São Tomé.
Under the topic “Connectivity as a Pillar for Digital Inclusion”, the event brought together government, the private sector, academia, civil society, and the technical community in a multistakeholder dialogue space around key issues for the country's digital future. Highlighted topics included digital trust, service infrastructure, regulation and governance of digital services, privacy and data protection, the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence, and the role of the internet and social media.
The Forum also featured the participation of national and international experts, including Marta Moreira Dias, President of LusNIC, reinforcing the importance of Lusophone cooperation in the Internet governance ecosystem.
The holding of the FGI STP represents an important milestone for São Tomé and Príncipe, laying the foundations for a permanent national forum, aligned with the principles of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
With this participation, LusNIC reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote digital inclusion, the sustainable development of the Internet and the sharing of knowledge among the different actors in the Lusophone community.
