LusNIC General Assembly in Luanda

The 8th General Assembly meeting of LusNIC took place on September 25th at the Luanda Data Center in Angola, hosted by INFOSI. The meeting was held the day after the closing of the 4th Lusophone Internet Governance Forum and also included online participation.

At this meeting:

  • The execution of the 2025-2026 Activity Plan and Budget was analyzed, with emphasis on the capacity-building project developed with the Coalition for Digital Africa, aimed at the ccTLDs .ao, .cv, .gw, .mz and .st. The project included four training sessions, totaling more than 20 hours and 70 participants, and the translation into Portuguese of six technical documents;
  • The 2027-2028 Activity Plan and Budget has been approved.

For the next two years, LusNIC plans to strengthen its visibility and website as an institutional channel, create the association's first Yearbook, and promote studies on topics such as multilingualism, Universal Acceptance, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. The plan also includes training, internships, and consulting services for members, as well as deepening cooperation with ICANN, the Coalition for Digital Africa, AfTLD, LACTLD, CPLP, and ARCTEL.

The Portuguese-speaking Internet Governance Forum will continue to be the main initiative promoted by the association.

1st Lusophone Internet Governance Forum

On the 18th and 19h of September, the 1st Internet Governance Forum of the Lusophone Community will take place at the Museum of the Portuguese Language in São Paulo - Brazil.

Among the topics under discussion will be the Internet governance ecosystem, the Portuguese language on the Internet, the Global Digital Compact and the challenges and opportunities for the development of the Internet in Portuguese-speaking countries.
