The 4th Lusophone Internet Governance Forum (FLGI) took place on September 23rd and 24th at the Talatona Convention Center in Luanda, Angola. The initiative was organized by LusNIC in conjunction with INFOSI, .PT, NIC.br, CGI.br, ARME, ARTE, INTIC and AGER, with the support of the Internet Governance Forum Support Association (IGFSA).
Over two days, the Forum brought together the Portuguese-speaking community in a multi-sectoral space for dialogue on the interactions of the Portuguese language with the development, uses, and governance of the Internet. The seven panels discussed connectivity and digital inclusion, the governance of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructures, data sovereignty, the protection of children online, cooperation in cybersecurity, and multi-sectoral participation.
The meeting ended with the approval of Luanda's Letter, which advocates for an open, inclusive and secure internet, linguistic and cultural diversity, cooperation between Portuguese-speaking countries and greater participation from universities and young people.
On the final day, representatives from the organizing countries participated in the program A Grande Questão, from Angolan Public Television (TPA), dedicated to the theme "Internet Governance: What instruments to include those who have been left out?".
The 5th edition of FLGI will take place in São Tomé and Príncipe in 2027.
